Andrew Jackson letter, 29 January 1824.

Facsimile of a letter written to his wife in which Jackson expresses his happiness about a new church being built near the Hermitage and the impact it will have on the community. Praises "that pious good man Mr. [William] Hume," the minister who was chosen to dedicate the church, and states that "the church will be of great benefit in christianizing the people in our settlement." Includes a letter written 25 March 1929 by William Hume's descendant Leland Hume which provides background information on William Hume and the Jackson letter.
